Elon Musk became by far the richest self-made entrepreneur by implementing his wildly unconventional solutions to "Complex Problems". There were many other factors, but without those wildly unconventional solutions, he wouldn't have even achieved 0.1% of his wealth.
Luck was obviously the biggest factor. Philosophically, luck is always the biggest factor.
