(As WordPress.com subscribers likely already know), between 5/4/25 and 5/7/25, WordPress.com, the hosting platform for this site, damaged this website by deploying faulty update software. I had no part in that implementation. As of now (5/11/25), I finished fixing all of the relevant issues I was able to detect from that.
However, there may be some issues I didn't detect. If you notice any issue with this website, please tell me through SS5.org's Feedback Page or another contact method.
There is and never was any risk of malware or anything like that. The issues were buttons that didn't work, functions that didn't do anything, and other issues that don't affect security, stability, or etc.
Extra Info
I switched this website from the Premium WordPress.com plan to the Business WordPress.com plan (in order to download a backup of this site). I downloaded that backup, then switched back to the Premium plan. This site was wrecked due to WordPress.com's faulty system in transferring a site from the Premium plan to the Business plan. All of that happened on 5/5/25.
This site was restored to using the Business WordPress.com plan, and this site was restored from that backup. This site (as it was after getting restored from that backup) was much less wrecked than it was, but that backup didn't correctly restore some elements which is the cause of those issues (that I've since fixed to the extent described above).
WordPress.com at least comped me up through 2027 for the extra cost of the Business plan (which I didn't even have to ask for), and gave me good support representative service, but WordPress.com wouldn't otherwise help me with fixing the site or reimburse me for fixing it which is fair enough I suppose.
Going forward, this site will always run on the Business WordPress.com plan or higher for as long as it's hosted with WordPress.com to prevent something like that from happening again. Just FYI, you can refer to this page if you genuinely want to support SS5.org beyond subscribing. If you aren't subscribed to SS5.org, please consider subscribing. Subscribing is free and appreciated.
As for why I didn't have SS5.org use the Business plan from the start, it's complicated and goes beyond just the current subscription cost of the Business plan. The cost of the Business plan is tiny compared to my other resources I've invested into SS5.org thus far.
