As part of my never-ending Informal Education PhD degree from Non-Existent University, I finished listing to Leadership Principles Explained by Andy Jassy (CEO of Amazon) which is free from Audible. Here are two things I found interesting.
1️⃣ Andy Jassy (who also narrates this short audiobook) talks in a remarkably similar way as Jeff Bezos.
Andy even seems to do the unusual mouth/throat movements as a pause to his dialogue that Jeff Bezos does from listening to the audio. I previously suspected that Jeff Bezos did that based on having a mild form of some inconsequential mouth/throat condition, but it now makes me suspect that he did/does it as a kind of neurodivergent tick, and Andy Jassy inherited it from Jeff based on how much time Andy has spent with Jeff in his career.
2️⃣ A big part of Amazon's success is by doing things that most people know/agree with, but that can be very uncomfortable.
For instance, he talks about how one Amazon principle is mandating that subordinate employees give their superior criticism on a decision that superior is considering if they disagree with it. Many people would agree with that, but actually implementing it can be very uncomfortable for the superior.
FYI, if you listen to it, I'd recommend skipping the chapter on being customer centric since it's more about how Amazon is customer centric rather than useful information on how to actually be more customer centric.
