- Traction: Get a Grip on Your Business by Gino Wickman (who I happen to be connected with on LinkedIn)
- Main book for the EOS business operating system. An ideation specialist is critical for great business growth.
- High Output Management by Andrew Grove
- He was the former CEO of Intel. The only outputs of a manager (of subordinates) are training, motivating, promoting, and/or demoting. Any output outside of that is not a managerial output. There is nothing else. (I added the promoting and/or demoting piece, but Grove says it’s only training and motivating which I otherwise agree with.)
- Start Your Own Corporation by Garrett Sutton (who I happen to be connected with on LinkedIn)
- The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
- Lean towards thinking win-win.
- How to Win Friends and Influence People Updated for the Next Generation of Leaders by Dale Carnegie, Donna Carnegie, and others
- A lot of the practices result in less communication and operational efficiency and I personally crave efficiency, but the human aspects are obviously important.
- Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance
- Elon Musk went from being a heavily bullied kid in South Africa, to doing a job in Canada that most everyone else quit due to it being very dangerous, to becoming a billionaire. And (after the book was written), to becoming the world’s most financially successful person. He knew the chances of failure were very probable in his businesses from Zip2 to SpaceX and Tesla but he tried anyways. It took a long time before people stopped thinking his ideas were impractical and crazy.
- Rocket Fuel by Gino Wickman and Mark C. Winters (who I happen to be connected with on LinkedIn)
- A great book to read for the EOS business operating system. Gave a great road map for implementing EOS in an established business.
- Unshakable Your Financial Freedom Playbook by Tony Robbins
- The financial advising industry is fraught with advisors giving you good but sub-optimal advise for profit. Do your research before trusting an advisor.
- Smarter Faster Better: The Transformative Power Of Real Productivity by Charles Duhigg
- Envisioning a plan for the hour(s) and strictly following it can be a great practice.
I started and finished each of the above books (among other books) between March 22nd and today (2025-07-05). I'd recommend each of them. They are ranked in order of what I'd most recommend to least recommend. I didn't modify my rankings based on those authors I'm connected with.
